Dreamweaver orders
      #159158 - Tue Feb 08 2005 10:27 AM

I have imported a background image that I wish to go behind a table.Have tried using a layer but it sits in front of table. How do change the order of images-tables?I am looking for a command similiar to Corel Draw/Frontpage where you can right click and have the option to move an image to the front,to the back etc.
No joy in help or Dummies!

Try this, you can put layers on top of layers. The you can convert layers to tables although I'm not sure if this works with "multi-layered" layers.

Put your background layer on first and insert your image.

Then, put layers on top of this where the cells of your table should be.

Then if I'm not mistaken you go to Command>>>>>Convert>>>>>Layers to Tables.

Hope it helps. If not, I'm sure somebody will be along.

You might try nesting tables, where the base table has the image as the background of the table itself.

Open a new blank page to experiment with first.
I can't know what you have showing in your toolbars, so go to:

Modify on the top menu bar
Page properties
Browse for backgroung image, Background color or txt etc
Apply
Ok

You now have a background of your choice.

Again not knowing what you have as icons in the toolbar, go to:

Insert on the top menu bar
Table and choose the type of table you require.

You'll now have a table in front of your background, but it will probably have the background showing through. If that's the case make sure the Selection Properties is ticked (Modify menu), then look for the BG color (background color) in the properties at the bottom of the page, then change to white or whatever you like.

Hope this helps a little

D'oh!!

I was under the impression the image was for the table only, not the whole page...

Surely then just set in the Page Properties, the image as the page background.

Or, if you need it confining, on a new document create a table, the width required for the your visible page. Set your image as this tables background.

Now just create the page within this table.
