Video Mail
      #15437 - Fri Oct 10 2003 09:36 AM

Hi
I want to send a video email to my cousin in Australia. I want him to be able to see and hear me when the email is opened so he doesn't have to mess about with attachments and media players etc.
Can this be done and if so, does anyone know how?
I think i can just record my message and put it in the email as a background noise, but am not sure about the picture.
Can anyone advise me?
Thanks
Suffrajet

Can I be perfectly honest with you, you may find that any video message like this will be far too big to send by email unless you use file splitting software.

I would be inclined to set up a temporary webpage with the message embedded and then just email the link to that page

Even if you can send your video file (and as Puta says, it will be a very large file) it would not be a good idea to send anything that opens automatically at the other end. Those sort of attachments are how viruses get spread and any well protected PC will stop them. OE6 will split large attahments into smaller pieces and transmit them as smaller files. If you go to Tools, Accounts, find your account under the Mail tab, highlight it, click on properties and choose the Advanced tab you will find an option to break apart large messages. If you set that to the largest size that you and your cousins' ISP will allow it should let you send your file.

Awww. Gutted!
Thanks for your help though.
Would it be possible to record it as a video clip and then send it? Or would that be too big a file too? Would I be able to do it if i zipped it?
Sorry for so many questions, would just like to know a bit more.
Thanks
Suffrajet

why not get a webcam and install microsoft messenger, and if your cousin does the same you can talk and see each other at the same time , you can pick up a cheap webcam for about £30. you can see each other every day if you want. just a suggestion. also you can file transfer on messenger, so if you wanted to send a video you can do it that way.
