can anyone suggest an answer to this problem, please? Whenever I try an connect to my ISP, I have to make five or six attempts before getting connected. The ISP said to ask BT to increase the gain on the line. BT have done this but the problem remains. Next, the ISP said to make sure that programs like Winfax were not active and also mentioned RNAAPP which it said should not be active. Winfax is not active but RNAAPP is, and i always thought that RNAAPP was part of Windows 98 and was responsible for dial-up networking. Is this correct? If, as the ISP says, RNAAPP should not be there, how can I get rid of it as it seems to be loaded at boot-up and if I do CTL+ALT+DEL and close it down, it reappears seconds later. The error message that I get when I am re-dialling is "The server is not responding" after it starts to check my ID and password. On the ISP's advice I have re-installed the networking software to no effect. I suspect that the problem might be with the ISP but would like to hear from one of you experts before getting back to the ISP again.

Chris, Good question. I have the same problem with my Freeserve Broadband connection at times and Freeserve gave me same advice but the Job's Worth at Fresserve wasn't prepared to offer the solution as it was too technical and not his responsibility. So Jonny, Thanks for link though having read it I'm waiting til I get an under warranty site visit to my PC on Thursday to look at several problems and I'll point the techie to it for him to do.

Hi Jonny, I had a look at that and haven't so far had he courage to do what the site says. The last time I did something like that I ended up with a computer that wouldn't boot. There is one thing I would like to know and that is does RNAAPP have to load at boot-up? It is always there on my PC after booting it. If it doesn't have to be there is there any way of diasbling it? It doesn't appear in the MSCONFIG startup file and I can't find it in the registry so I am wondering what makes it load. If I close it down after boot-up and then dial my ISP I get connected immediately even though RNAAPP returns. It seems that having it there before I dial up is what is causing my problem. Does that make sense?
