I started a web site about a year ago, then lost interest for a while. It is a wedding web site, but with a difference!!! A reminiscing web site of days gone by, I am also trying to attract getting marrieds, and newly weds to build up a truly memorable web site.
After my father died last year, and having to deal with his personal belongings etc I came across lots of memorabilia from WWII, including mum and dads wedding photos, letters to each other, telegrams etc etc. It was then I decided to research more about War Brides.
This has led me to carry on with the website, adding lots of different features, one being War Brides. Many memories and stories from around the world, mainly UK ladies that met and married in WWII and left the UK to live with their GI and Canadian servicemen husbands.
War Brides is a big feature at the moment. I would now like to build up, the UK stories, and also attract those newly weds who must have stories to tell of their wedding day, either funny, sad or the happiness of their special day.
The URL is http://www.weddingspastandpresent.co.uk
I would be interested to find out where on the internet I could find companies that hold competitions on web sites, to help attract more visitors. i.e. hotels offering a weekend break etc.
Do take a look

I'm sure going through your father's belongings brought back some wonderful memories of him and your mother. Your site has incredible potential on a number of levels
1. As a reminiscence site, just to bring back memories 2. As a social history site, seeing how weddings have (or haven't changed) 3. As a geneological site. Many people seeking family history love to put pictures to the history.
A beautifully put together, well thought out site, (though maybe the pink is a little harsh on male eyes )
Of all the Things I've lost, I miss my mind the most
