i've got a TINY pc preloaded with supanet ISP but find it expensive and want to change. Can anyone tell me how to lose Supanet and install another ISP, eg Tesco, from their freebie disc?? Is it possible or am i stuck with Supanet?

You could try going to Control Panel>Network Connections. Find Supanet, right-click on it and delete it, then you can go with the ISP of your choice. Madeline.

Hi Madeline. Thanx for the suggestion but it hasn't worked.... seems that my modem is "optimised for web access thro' Supanet". Just can't DE-optimise it! Keeps blocking any attempt to access another ISP. Will try customer support @ supanet but not much hope there.

Sorry it didn't work. I think it's diabolical that you're forced to use a particular ISP. It's your PC after all, which you've paid for. You could also try contacting Tiny, but I don't know how much help they'd be. Madeline.

There have been loads of complaints about Tiny's policy of forcing you use a particular ISP. I'm not sure how they've done it but if it's a hardware fix then removing their modem and putting a different one in might solve it. If it's software then scanning through the registry and removing everything you find with Supanet in the string might also work. Make sure you take a backup of the registry before starting.

Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really? Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

I read somewhere that you can ring Tiny (on a Premium Rate number, naturally) and they can tell you how to de-optimise Supanet. Could be a bit expensive. Madeline.

This is a rip off. You can get a CD to remove the Supanet settings but it costs as much as a new modem.
The modem is fixed and won't dial any other number.
Try unistalling the driver. First, download a driver from the modem manufacturer's website. Uninstall the current driver, then reinstall it using the downloaded driver.

Thanx for people that replied! I tried lots of things but (i'm not very technical) at last bit the bullet and rang Tiny support. Think it was Indian call centre... took AGES. Can't wait for the phone bill. After 5 attempts what they said WORKED!!!! No more Supanet!!!! Need to log onto tiny.com/deopt and go for it. Freedom at last!

Hey, well done! Hope it all goes smoothly for you now and that the phone bill's not too huge! Madeline.

You won't get charged for an international call to India. Before you sign on with Tesco's ISP, have a look around at other ones first. I can recommend Virgin's 24/7 as I had to use it for a month recently and it was excellent. Can also recommend NTL's 24/7 as my son used that and had no problems. Please avoid AOL as it takes over your computer (with apols to AOL users in here).

A call directly to the Indian call centre would have been cheaper than calling the premium rate Tiny line. What a pity companies don't give out the direct numbers!
If you're after excellent customer service at a good price, I would go for PlusNet.

Despite many comments against AOL, I don't actually have a problem with it. I wouldn't recommend it over PlusNet, but my reasons for liking AOL might be deleted by a moderator.

I've heard that, as Hello_There says, AOHell takes over your PC and is very difficult to remove entirely. I have never used it myself, so I don't know how true this is. Madeline.
