      #13308 - Thu Oct 02 2003 01:30 PM

Hi - i would like to play my region 1 DVD's on my PC but the dvd software only allows limited changes of regions , does any one know of a way to disable/upgrade or change this . I have not yet downloaded media player 9 - would this make a difference. It is a dell system with power dvd player - if more info is required i can get it later as im posting this from work.

Thanks a lot

It's not actually software that prevents you making multiple region changes. It can be done but it would be irresponsible of me, or anyone else, to tell you how it's done.

Why - what is it that stops my system making multiple changes from region to region - i have a multi - region dvd player so is it a license problem. I would be really interested to know what it is.

When you say it would be irresponsible to tell me is that because of the moral position or would it cause a problem with my system.

Could i save the dvd to my hard drive by playing it on my multi-region player & connecting to my PC?

I'm not too sure of the present situation but up to about two years ago I became involved in this question of changing regions. Being on the consultation list I became familiar with the procedures that allowed changes to be made.

At that time DVD players attached to computers allowed 6 changes of region to be made. When the last change was made it was "stuck" at that region.

Perhaps there are others on the Forum who know the latest situation.

Thats exactly the problem i've got - 6 changes max & i've used 2 up . There must be someone out there who as developed a program to be able to play multi region disc's cos as far as i know the hardware on multi region players is the same as all the rest - it is just the operating system that differs.

In future i'll be registered as ddave or decentone so if i find a program i'll post it.

Don't you have a region zero option?

"It can be done but it would be irresponsible of me, or anyone else, to tell you how it's done."

Why? It's not illegal in any way. All my dvd players are multiregion.

You don't say the make so take a look through the posts here for info on how to change your particular drive http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/forums/default.asp?Forum=176
