clear file list - media player
      #12903 - Tue Sep 30 2003 02:11 PM

hi all
anyone know how to clear the list that drops down in Windows media player when you click on "file" in the top left hand corner. I have deleted the file list in media library, but cant seem to clear this list. Was hoping it would be as easy as cleaning the history list in a browser.

thanx in advance

For Windows Media Player 9

Go to Tools | Options | Privacy tab
click Clear History.
You can also turn off the MRU (Most Recently Used) here.

For All Other Versions

Go to Start | Run
Type in regedit
In the left pane, find each of the following Key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList

Delete RecentFileList, or manually remove them in the right pane.

NOTE: This registry key is re-created the next time you open a file in Media
Player.

To stop Media Player from maintaining the Recent Files List

Find the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences

Look in the right pane for the value called AddToMRU
Double click this item and set the value to 00 (two zeros)
