Without going into the actual technical differences (a quick search on Google will give you all the jargon) MP3 sounds better. WMA is a proprietary format (Microsoft) which is reason enough for many not to use it and I won't even go into my distaste for Digital Rights Management with WMA.

Are you just wanting to listen to them on the pc? If so then you don't need to change them to improve the sound - just use a different player that is capable of playing WMA files. I use Quintessential (known as QCD) which you can download here http://www.quinnware.com/. Try your files in QCD & listen to the quality improve Maybe for once someone will call me "Sir" without adding "you're making a scene" Homer J. Simpson
Thanks I will give it a try. I do want to listen on PC but also can u put MP3's onto CDs and can you fit more on a CD in MP3 format? So that I can have my own playlists etc.
If you want to put your music onto CD's to play in a normal HI-FI then they will need to be in CDA (Compact Disk Audio) format not a data format like MP3.
