Ripping Yarns
      #12472 - Sat Sep 27 2003 09:46 PM

I've been merrily ripping away today (so to speak) using FreeRip mp3 which I've used before with no problems. It's pretty basic, but it does the job quite nicely. I think I accidentally hit something that I shouldn't though, because now when I put a cd into the drive, nothing happens. No track listing, nothing - even when I hit 'refresh cd' nothing happens. I've tried a different cd ripper thingy and the same thing happens, i.e. nowt. I've no doubt overlooked something simple, but if someone could point me in the right direction I'd be v. grateful. Now on XP Home, if that helps.

Hi Poppy,

Does this happen when you're online?

Forgive me if this sounds obvious (I know I sometimes miss the glaringly conspicuous - with hindsight) but, you need to be online to get the CD track listings.

I'm always online, lol - it just seems that the machine doesn't recognise that there's anything in the drive.

That makes two of us.

I realise it was a long-shot but, Hey! Nothing ventured... (I'm nothing if not clichéd).

Oh well, whatever it was has been cured by a reboot!
