The link was a generalisation, I'm not familiar with Aol you may require the assistance of a dedicated Aol user.

Ok Our Stanley,
I,ll try AOL but not sure they will help as I think its an OE problem. In case you did not realize I got that number from the Link you gave me I tried setting the number back to 25 it made a difference in respect of a dialog box I got before no appearing do you think that the numbers are pointing to different Ports ? Cheers

PS nothing wrong with the Link its very easy its just the number maybe it depends
on my setup.

Are you trying to use your AOL connection to send e-mail using another ISP's e-mail account? To try to prevent spam, most ISPs will only allow mail from their own e-mail accounts to be sent through the connection. It's a pain, but anything that reduces spam has got to be worth living with.

HI Rob.
No all I am trying to do is to send/receive emails from Outlook Express while my my provider is AOL. I have followed all the info and links given me by you guys on the forum with I might add their patience but up to yet not been able to send a email. It seems there is an error 0x000cccDF checking that out as far as I understand it something about "Inactivity of account" whatever that might be., it seems I have not been able to contact anyone using this combination AOL/OE 6 that knows the problem.
I know that I can manage without OE6 as I have for a few years with Aol but thought I would have a reserve should Aol have a problem, unlikely well yes but would be reassuring and more to the point up till now with the help of the forum I have not failed to accomplish a project and its driving me crazy (nearly swore at the wife yesterday) and won,t accept defeat with out a struggle
Cheers Rob!

Can you access your AOL email via AOL.com homepage? Inactivity of account usually means they will wipe your account after a set period of it not being used (usually 3 months I think).

Hi RicheaP
Yes I have no problem sending/recieveing emails from AOL or YAHOO, MSN,
I do,nt know if you read the post when I mentioned in the AOL/HELP it mentions having to unstall and reinstall my Password in the registry but I am not sure about that but I suppose it will do no harm what do you think Cheers

If you're going to be messing about with the registry, then make sure you back it up first. Sorry I can't give any more advice.

I hope you are putting smtp in your settings, not SMPT as you spelt it in your initial post ...
simple mail transport protocol.
