Young Web Designers
      #1234 - Wed Jun 18 2003 12:50 PM

I am a 14 year old web designer and as the only money i get is from a paper round, i can not afford to pay big money to get my site hosted or to get it advertised. Does anyone know where there as a 'young persons' affilate scheme or CHEAP promotion. Also does anyone know of a cheap web host (i am currently useing brinkster which is free but i will be needing more space in the future). My site is almost complete, just a few things to be finalised.

Can I make some other suggestions for you.....
1. Why the Entrance page?
a. It just annoys viewers who presumably want to find out what's on the site.
b. Telling them that there have been 25 (as I write) visitors doesn't accomplish anything - if you need numbers you could have an invisible counter.
c. That Swan picture is 338kb - about 2 minutes download time on a normal dial-up connection - visitors just aren't going to be bothered to wait that long. It needs to be compressed - I'd say that it could get down to around 20kb without any noticeable deterioration, and don't forget that it can only be seen at 72dpi anyway.(and though you've banned the right click actions, you still have IE's options, so it hasn't accomplished anything - that's how I found out the size).
2. The 'Where to Eat' and 'Where to Stay' pages can't be found.
3. You ask a lot from your visitors in terms of input - you ought to start the ball rolling yourself.
4. Check your spelling.
5. Don't take offence - this is constructive criticism - and you've made a good start.

I too viewed the mudefordvillage site and yes, I too noticed things that in my opinion should be corrected, but rather than list the errors publicly, I thought it more tactfull to mail privately, which I did and received a welcome note of thanks/appreciation. From other emails received, I know that within a short time, anything which requires attention will be attended to. It might be of interest to know that each time I look back at the site, sometimes the "where to eat"/."where to go" sections are available, sometimes not. Clearly there is a deal of tidying up to do, but without being patronising to George, he is 14 years of age, is learning, and in my opinion should be encouraged (as I'm sure your comments are intended). As I said to you privately George, well done publicly.

Hi.

I am quite young, below 13. I have this site: www.hjconline.tk and am building another one. May I suggest to the guy who is 14 that he should download some templates? They are free @ freewebtemplates.co.uk

Hi

MMmmm 'Heebie Jeebie Club - Back, and better than ever before'!!

I wouldn't fancy experiencing it's former incarnation. It doesn't appear to be an active site, currently requires login without registration facility (D'oh!), and throws open 3 popups!!

Or am I doing something wrong...
