Real Alternative
      #12039 - Thu Sep 25 2003 04:22 PM

Having read several recommendations to uninstall Real Player in favour of Real Alternative, I have downloaded the latest version of the latter and installed it. I have then Add/Removed Real Player. However, when I launch my Radi0@Netscape Plus radio player, it says it needs Real Player and proceeds to download and install Real Player Basic again. How do I get out of this loop and associate the Netscape (and any other for that matter) player with Real Alternative?

I know this sounds somewhat pedantic, and it's just a suggestion but... I would reccomend uninstalling Realplayer before installing RealAlternative.

And I must remember to grab this smiley and drop it on my server when I get home!!

Yeah, mon! Up and running now. I'd not associated Real Alternative with Netscape during set up but I uninstalled them both and reinstalled Real Alternative again anyway. Now if I can only get a radio recorder that I can actually hear what I've recorded I'll really be grooving. I've tried 3 so far and about to go to Total Recorder as recommended in latest issue of WU. The FAQs on the others I've tried are all full of "Why can't I hear what I've recorded questions/" and although I've followed what's been said, all I get is the Sound Of Silence - and Simon & Garfunkle it aint!

Hi Alan, (again)

I'll try and remember (also when I get home) to look at what sound-type software I have, because I'm sure I can record in a mode called Record -what-you-hear - or summink like that, which may be of use....

I've uninstalled Real Player,in favour of Windows Media Player.
I was going to install Real Alternative,is there any way of transferring files so that WMP can read them?
Or am I going to have to put the material in those files back in again?

Actually, real alternative is a modified version of WMP4

you shouldn't need to do anything other than install it RA will do the rest
