We've all had that boring error message on the boring white background - "This Page Cannot be displayed". And if we've mis-typed a URL, or whatever, then it's only to be expected. But I am plagued with this message, often when clicking on a link in e-bay (for example), or even just trying to make a bid. Any ideas ? I suspect it is something to do with my security settings / cookies, etc., but I don't really know what to look for, or how to change it. I HAVE tried tools ... internet options ... delete cookies/clear history, etc., and that SOMETIMES clears the problem. But only temporarily. Any ideas, please ? I have Windows XP (NOT with SP2), and use a broadband connection via an ADSL router. I also have Zone alarm (which I probably don't need, but that's another story ...).

I'm not really sure whats wrong but sometimes I press refresh and it appears :-)
Probably won't work but it's worth a try (if you haven't tried it already of course :-) )

Have you tried running Spybot or Adaware to check for nasties?
Not all Broadband services are the same

HI rogojo
just read you have two firewalls it's just like a virus program you really can only have one at a time so best to fully uninstall one of them
Like to ask if you have any monitoring programs on you computer of any sort and if you are using IE have you added any skins to it
What could help your system though is if you check your firewall setting and look through the progams that access the internet and see if you can modify anything
Also check to see if you can stop any software that you don't need to run that startup when you boot up

First of all download the following programmes:Spybot & Adaware SE
Update both of them first, then run both programmes and have them fix anything they find.
When you have run and fixed everything with Spybot Search and Destroy and AdAware, please reboot before scanning, as not everything can be removed when Windows is running
Go to this page, and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip it, launch Hijack This, then press Scan, and press Save Log
This will generate a text file that will list all running processes, all applications that are loaded automatically when you start Windows, and more.
open that file Go to Edit | Select all Now click Edit | copy to copy it
Do not change anything just yet Come back to the forum, Right Click and paste its contents in the HIJACK THIS LOGS forum.
Someone will come along and have a look at it, and advise you what still needs to be removed.
When you have been advised on your HijackThis log please download the following to stop most malware from getting into your p.c. in the first place:
Spywareblaster & Spywareguard.
AVG ANTIVIRUS..AVG email scanner..SYGATE FIREWALL..ADAWARE..SPYWAREBLASTER..HIJACK THIS..WINDOWS UPDATE..COOLWEBSHREDDER.. SPYWARE GUARD..WINZIP BARNEYS PLACE
