Hello everybody. I've managed to get hold of the setup files for "Ultra Win Cleaner 2000", which I know some people have been looking for for ages.
I'll only be hosting it for two weeks though, so grab it while you can.
Here's the link.
It's almost 2½ MB, so allow about ¼ hour to download it on a good dial-up connection.
It's a .zip file, which means people with older versions of Windows will need to install WinZip first.
There's a folder tree, which is why I had to .zip it, so once you've downloaded it, right click, select "Extract all", then "Show files" and double click on the setup file in the root folder.

I use a paid-for registry cleaner as well, and they each find things the other misses, but not very many. References to deleted files mainly.
UWC does other things though, like clearing history and (some) usage tracks as well as moving applications to other folders, drives or partitions and adjusting the registry entries accordingly.
I've never had a problem with it, and it insists on making a registry backup before the first scan anyway, just in case anything goes wrong.

I think my reassurance is short lived.
After doing a little clean up, the icons in my tray for local network connection, internet connection and sygate firewall have disappeared . Any idea where they have gone and how to retrieve them. Not that I am blaming you Mr Rubble, just thought you may understand what's gone on.
Many thanks

Oh sorry BTW . The show connections has also gone from my start menu, so I have to switch off the PC to disconnect from the internet . I realise this is probably all my fault, it's just the hearts willing but the brain isn't .
Ta for your patience

I've just heard today that UWC may not be compatible with XP.
Grahammelon. Your best bet is to open the application, click on "WinReg Cleaner", then on "Restore Registry". I hope that will put things right, then if you're using XP, it's probably safer to uninstall UWC.
Pity about that. It's a useful little programme otherwise. You could try "Registry Cleaner" from page 4 of Barney's Place, but I haven't tried that one.

HHhhhmmm .....slip me a micky finn would you Mr Rubble . Seeing as you have resolved and restored my registry and sanity , we'll call it quits. Do it again and I shall have to send the big boys round and confiscate your mouse.
Shame as it looked quite good, what's the top tip to uninstall completely.
