Wanadoo Dailup Connection Probem
      #116827 - Mon Oct 11 2004 02:47 PM

Copy of E-mail i sent to Wanadoo (has anyone had a similar problem )

Wanadoo's of little help - The usually reply is everythins fine at this end, but if i cant connect how can they be aware that theres a problem !! mmm

*** Any help appreciated **

Ongoning problem for about 7 days now have sent a number of e-mails to you asking for help on this problem. Have tried all the things you have said but still have a problem.

Have tried.

Deleting All old connection setup and making new one

Making a new dailup connection (Manually ie like connecting when away from home connection intructions) worked once then back to same old problem i think i may have just been lucky that time.

Installed connection kit - Still got problem of not connecting. on numbers dialed.

Last resort completely re-installed operating system and re-setup connection and connection kit, still get this problem of not being able to connect to my anytime account most of the time.

Most of the time when i try to connect in the modem dails say for example the 08089916080 number it rings like its engaged you dont hear an for the modem screaching which its supposed to do, then after 20+Sec you hear a mesasage on the other end Fault - Please try again later. The connection kit then disconnects from BT and then trys the next number on the list. Same again Fault - Try Again Later and so on and so on. On comming back its the same process again. On rare occasions you do get straight through and connected but this is a rare occurance. For example Mon - Sat of last week is been a major hasstle to access my Anytime account Sunday after noon got perfect service. Today its back to this problem. Multiple attempt so connect getting the message Fault Try again later, after approx 10 attempts i got a connection. When i check with Wanadoo's status line all i get is no reported faults..

Unfortunately i dont know how this is going to be resolved i made up a Pay as you go account and attempted to dail in although it took two attempts to get in it connected me to the screaching part on both occasions, and on the second attempt let me in. A friend set me up a different companys dailup PAYGo dailer to see check to see if it was a problem with my modem that let me in first time.

On the BT line side. Voice (Phone to Phone) works perfectly, crystal clear voice communication. The only phone numbers \ connections i am having problems with is the connection to your anytime service !!

Could you send me some soluntions to this problem as its getting quite anoying not being able to properly use this service.

Could if be a problem with BT somewhere within its system, im a bit wary of contacting BT to report a fault that may not be in my phone! As im not the bill payer (my parents own the phone) i dont want them to be stuck with a payment if nothing is wrong!! As it only seem to be Freeserve\Wanadoo numbers that are causing this fault message to be played.

Any help on this matter is much appreciated as well as advice on what to say to BT if its them.

Thanks

Hmmm ... strange.

Have you tried putting 1470 infront of the number used to dialup?

If you are PAYG dial-up:
Why not try another PAYG ISP, use Google to find one.

But I have never noticed problems with ecosse.net 0845 dial-up.

I had exactly the same problem as you a while back. In the end, we persevered with Wanadoo and eventually the problem went. We tried everything, we even thought it could be the cable we were using. Now we have perfect service, we never did find out what the problem was.

Stick with it and it should go away - maybe it was just a temporary server problem that wasn't picked up - if you have any further problems and it doesn't go away, PM me and I maybe able to help you further.

Phil
