Advice or web host change?
      #11639 - Mon Sep 22 2003 08:43 PM

Hi

My husband currently owns a web site scfl.co.uk and I wish to add additional services to his current portfolio that are not currently advertised on his web site. My question is would it be easier/cost effective to add additional link pages to his current home page or register a separate domain name for £1.99 with oneandone.co.uk. Using that to build a separate web site using their web creation goal software and have this separate web site linked to his current home page. Is oneandone.co.uk any good?

Are these services a part of the same business promoted at his domain? If so, then they need to be part of the domain to retain consistency and corporate identity. Otherwise, perhaps they need to be separate and linked to similar to a banner exchange? shrug, that's all I have to say, not even going to start a debate on 1&1, choosing a web host is a personal thing which only you can decide.

Can your husband offer you a sub-domain? If he has got this option then it saves spending more money.

Your domain could then be something like http://yourname.scfl.co.uk
http://www.jonny555.co.uk

Hi ITBarbie,
Another option could be having www.scfl.co.uk/yourname/product.html this option is FREE ( being a yorkshireman born with short arms and deep poclets) this is the option i took on one of my sites.
