HElp me I`m losing it Just got adsl enabled on Sept 26 but having major problems getting online, and as other posts have mentioned - major probs getting in contact with tesco BB helpline. The problem is that having installed all the software and plugged in the modem, I have a constantly flashing green adsl light on the thomson speed touch 330 modem. I am using XP pro. I tried installing the modem on another pc in the house on the same filter and line box etc, this worked fine as i tried finding a solution to the XP problem online. I then disconnected from the old pc tried again on the new to no avail, then when i tried to plug back in to the old.....flashing adsl light I also tried uninstall and reinstall on the XP pc but was getting a ikernel.exe, application error couldn`t read memory at the end of uninstall and then kept getting windows 2000 driver install error report when i try to reinstall, ( send , don`t send report box ).
Any ideas

Did you connect the modem before installing the software? If you did you need to do it the other way round as the software usually needs installing first before connecting the modem.

If you are using the free modem provided and the drivers, like Shirazee has said make sure that the modem is not connected when you load them up.
On your task bar you should have loaded the Speedtouch diagnostic tool. Have you tried clicking on that to see what it reports back?.

Sorry, I have just re-read your post, on your task bar right click the Speed touch Icon you then have a choice from a grey drop down box. Click select device and you should see the Modem there. Click on it to choose it and that may solve your problem.

Thanks for all the advice, although it now appears the problem is the wiring inside the BT socket i was connected to, a friend told me to remove the face plate and plug directly into the socket inside and hey presto the connection was made instantly, so simple yet beyond the helpdesks at both BT and Tesco broadband, and almost 5 hours wasted on phone call queing with them both.
Thanks again for the replies
