Hi, I'm currently having a problem with Internet Explorer 6.0 Everything is running really slowly - even typing this message is putting the computer under pressure to keep up! The problems I am experiencing are: +slow and 'jerky' scrolling on pages +tick boxes taking a while to tick or untick +computer taking a while to show the address of hyperlinks in the bottom status bar +clicks on hyperlinks taking a while to be recognised
These problems are only occuring on the internet - I can do all of the above issues perfectly normal in offline programs such as Word etc. I am running a 1Gb AMD Athlon Processor, 256Mb SDRam, 30Gb harddrive - with Windows 98 second edition. I have got BT Broadband, and pages are loading just as quick as they normally do. I have tried closing down ZoneAlarm, virus checks, ad-aware checks, hijackthis checks etc.
Anyone got any ideas? thanks, Karl

Restart Hijack this and put a check mark against the following:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LoadQM] loadqm.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot O4 - Global Startup: ZoneAlarm.lnk = C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zonealarm.exe O19 - User stylesheet: c:\windows\system.css
click Fix Checked[/url]
Restart your computer

You're welcome, glad the problem is sorted
Most of them are resource hogs which basically start when your computer startss but aren't necessary
