I am currently on AOL, but it is REALLY starting to annoy me! Please let me know of a decent broadband ISP.
Cheers!

Try Virgin - I find them really good and there's no minimum contract. I would most certainly NOT recommend Freeserve/Wanadoo, they don't live up to their promises, they don't sort out their mistakes and trying to get a refund for their error is like hiking up mount Kilimanjaro in 5 inch stilletos in the middle of a blizzard!

How much do you want to spend per month? Are you after a capped or uncapped package ? Do you have a modem ? Do you want free activation ?

Hi folks,
I'd liked it uncapped and would be willing to pay what im paying now: £24.99 per month. I have a BT Voyager 100 ADSL modem now. Free activation would be nice!
I'll have a look at Virgin.
Thanks,
Stuey

virgin have poor speeds so i would stay away from them.
try freedom2surf as you cant go wrong with them, I have bt yahoo 1mb broadband which cost me £29.99 a month and the speed is always perfect, never have any connection issues and the 30gb monthly cap is not going to be put in place until early next year.

PlusNet without a doubt. Excellent products. Excellent customer service. I have a USB ADSL modem or ADSL wireless router that I could sell you if you don't have one already.

Pipex are a good ISP and offer FREE connection and a modem with most packages , the equivalent unmetered 512K package is slightly dearer than F2S's but you dont have to pay up front CLICK HERE for more info

Based on past experience, I wouldn't touch Pipex or Tiscali with a barge pole (although Tiscali's movie download in the latest issue of WebUser sounds interesting). Pipex has the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
Still, everybody has different experiences with different companies. I also wouldn't touch BTOpenworld with a barge pole either, but I've heard lots of people sing its praises.

Here's ADSL guides top 10 for last month. ( note the big names missing)
Lack of customer service is not such a issue if you have a good isp as you are not going to use them

You're right, but no service is 100% reliable, and I like to know that I'm with a company that will sort me out if anything goes wrong.

Hi someone must have read my mind lols. I came on here to read and see if anyone could recommend a really good ISP re B Band. Our little village has been on B Band since last week. I have two ISP'S main one is supanet!! I see they are asking for £27:99p per month plus thier is a contract for 1 year on signing up to them. My 2nd ISP is highstream, which even on dial~up is pretty fast. Looking at thier info; they are offerring B Band at a whole lot of package prices. Just one week to wait for box etc; to arrive, free help line, also they are offerring ADSL. As I don't really understand an awful lot re broadband I wonder if some kind soul could take a peep at "highstream" and come back with thier views on thier offer? Thank you Isa.

Have a look at ISP Review before signing up.
Unfortunately, couldn't find Highstream as an xDSL provider.

Thank you Rob for the information, very helpful. The info; on highstream can be found at http://www.highstream.net I should have typed that address instead of the .com one apologies. Isa.

Thanks Rob, for the "Good Luck" re ISP's I still feel slightly swayed to highstream.net but having a general browse around WU and other ISP's recommended. Isa.

I would be interested in the details of why AOL has annoyed you. I used to be with AOL (dial-up). I did not like having to load bespoke AOL software. I made the dreadful mistake of joining Wanadoo broadband. Check before you join for a long minimum contract period. Vispa is worth a look. Use Google, look at other sites, e.g. ISP review
From a current Wanadoo customer who wants to be an ex-Wanadoo customer.

I've been with Tesco broadband for a few weeks. There is unlimited access, and the speed is 512 for 19.97 per month. If you want a firewall, antivirus, and spam blocker, it's an extra 50p per month. You get a free modem, and 30 days of free advice. It takes around 10 days to set up, from checking your phone line to being connected. I've had no trouble whatsoever with it. Hope this helps
