Can someone help.....
I've received my modem and the email advising me that my phone line has been set up for broad band. However when I install the software I get a #506 return code with the message synchronization error. I've gone back to Wanadoo and was told that the problem was due to my phone wiring at home but they would send me another modem just in case. The second modem made no difference. Then I tried my mate's wired modem which worked on one of our phone sockets but not the other.
I'm now struggling to think what to do next. Is it that I have a very weak/marginal line and the Wanadoo modem is failing to connect?
Thanks, Pete

Maybe your mates modem is not effected as much, but I found that by placing an ADSL filter on all your phone sockets throughout the house (not just the one where you connect your modem) solves various problems.
Whatever

I agree with the filter idea but you may want to call BT and ask them if the quality of the line is sufficient as although you probably have a line which is ok upto 512k if you have anything over then not all BT lines will work properly YET.
My line from the exchange was only altered about a month or so ago even though Broadband was available before that.
I would not have thought that this was naything to do with the error but you never know as Wanadoo did not pick this problem up when I signed up for the 1MB I had to find it out for myself.
Good luck with getting it sorted

Move to another ISP broadband supplier if your current supplier cannot supply the service.
If more of us did this then the poor suppliers would go under.
Kindest regards Pauline
