I'm operating Windows XP. I've set a home page, followed that through correctly, clicked 'apply' and it works fine ... for the next few times I open my IE browser. After that, next time I open IE a totally spurious page appears as my home page. This has been happening for a week or so now and it's driving me mad. I keep changing it back to my favoured page, and the problem keeps reoccuring. Can anyone please help?

You could try downloading a copy of Spybot (Just click on the coloured link). As well as clearing any spyware, it can be used to lock your home page.
Hope that helps.

Dear Barney Rubble' I too have the same problem as Richard Gordon, with my Home Page being regularly hijacked by some blessed American search engine( true counter). I also have Spybot installed. On your advice above I went into it and clicked Browser Check but was unsure how to proceed thereafter, when it came to "Exports" and "transfer to Logs" etc. Could you tell me, in strictly beginner's language,. what to do next. My knowledge is strictly limited I'm afraid. Your help would be much appreciated.

Please go to this page, and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip it, launch Hijack This, then press Scan, and press Save Log
This will generate a text file that will list all running processes, all applications that are loaded automatically when you start Windows, and more.
open that file Go to Edit | Select all Now click Edit | copy to copy it Come back to Webuser, Right Click and paste its contents here
