WANADOO HOMEPAGE - PROBLEM SOLVED!
      #107279 - Mon Sep 13 2004 10:39 PM

After many weeks of trying to get Wanadoo home page back I entered a forum in wanadoo and some person called boingboing had worked out that norton's is treating wanadoo scripts as ads and blocking the wanadoo homepage.

I not a techie, but it is something to do with the change over from Freeserve to Wanadoo.

Any way follow these instructions carefully and good luck.

Let me know how you get on.

turlac.

I've also had problems with wanadoo's homepage not loading properly. I found that it was caused with the freeserve to wanadoo change conflicting with norton internet security/firewall.

I reckon that most of you probably have a firewall of some sort on your pc.
Anyway if you have norton look at the log viewer.
( right click the i/s icon on the taskbar - bottom r/h )

Should be half way down the list. if not you need to enable by ticking the box in norton options.

If you expand the internet security list on the l/h and click on content blocking you'll see a list of items (scripts mainly) that the firewall has blocked.

Quite a few will be related to the wanadoo homepage.

Norton is seeing the wanadoo script files as ads and thus blocking them.

What you need to do ( this worked on my pc - xp sp2 and laptop win98).

On 2003 pro - open norton internet security, click on options, click the web content tab.

On 2004 - open norton internet security, click on priacy control, click on the advanced box.

You should now be at the same web content window.

Click on the add site box and type in www.wanadoo.co.uk

Click on www.wanadoo.co.uk on the l/h side list if it isn't already highlighted blue

On the r/h side click the global settings tab.

The 5 default setting boxes should all be ticked but the greyed out circles below
each default setting box should read permit, block, permit, permit, permit.

Click on the user settings tab next and again all the default setting boxes should be ticked. All the greyed out circles should be marked permit ( all 4 )

Next click on the AD BLOCKING TAB.

Click the add box, type in www.wanadoo.co.uk and then make sure you click the permit circle and not the block one which will highlighted by default.

Then click on ok.

Exit out of norton.

You'll then need to delete your temporary internet files ( i deleted my histrory aswell).

If you then reload the wanadoo homepage it should hopefully be ok - worked for me anyway.

One other thing.

If you're having problems with javascripts not working it could well be the same thing.

Could never load the direct line quote page until i added the direct line page to norton.

Good luck to all
