Can anyone tell me how to stop the Instant Message box from appearing on top of the screen every time I log on? No problems with AOL but this just annoys me as I have to close it everytime before I can go further with the connection Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. Have done what you suggested and all boxes on the 'General' page of 'Buddy list settings' are deselected already, so would appreciate another suggestion if possible please Thanks mikeandnel

Ok Unticking all the boxes may cause a problem... There are 9 boxes... Tick NO.2 and 3 then all the boxes from No.5 onwards What you'll have is NO buddy list but an IM alert activated when somebody tries to contact you. Can ignore them? answer them? or send their name to the block list? in 1 click ( Also see below) There is also in the same area the "Privacy and Security" tab where you can block who is welcome or not? on a separate list if you are getting pestered? You'll have to go into Parental Controls to make further adjustments ( Edit IM Control) only 2 tick boxes... Top box =stops chat .Bottom box=stops file transfers webcams ect. Your choice?

Thanks again for the advice. Have done exactly what you suggested but still the Instant Messaging screen appears on top of everything at log-on. It is easy enough to close it but I would like to remove it as it is a facility that I seldom use. Maybe there is another way to stop it from appearing automatically? Regards and thanks mikeandnel

I don't know the answer to this one. Suggest contacting the AOL technical people (0800 3765432) or posting in the AOL Technology forum (answerings a bit slow) http://aol://5863:126/mB:525554 3rd option use keyword "Live help" for personal help from AOL Tech support In case you are wondering? To BedstorfromAP Thanks for the advice. Have discussed with AOL Live Help and they advise me that it is not possible to stop the I.M. screen appearing on opening AOL. Am suspicious of this answer but can't find a way round it. Thanks anyway. Mikeandnel
