Windows 98
      #102491 - Fri Aug 27 2004 09:50 PM

I have been trying to put Broadband on to my "new" laptop which has Windows 98 installed. Once the cd is running, it asks for the Windows 98 CD rom to be inserted, trouble is, this laptop had Win 98 installed when I bought it, with no disks. Is there anyway round this, or do I just have to use dial up connection on the laptop. Grateful for any help.

I just used dial up networking in control panel and entered my details for the new isp.

It is likely that files being searched for on the CD already exist on your laptop in a directory somewhere. This is going to take some time but each time it asks for a file, make a note of the name and do a search of your hard disk. Don't forget to include hidden files and folders and sub directories. You may also need to change the option to show file extensions. Once you've found the file use Browse to direct the installer to the correct location. It is probably looking for various network files of which there are about 6 or 7.

Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really?
Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.
