      #102028 - Thu Aug 26 2004 12:22 PM

Hi...can anyone help.

I have a laptop and travel overseas quite a lot.

What is the best way to able able to use my laptop and collect / send emails. Is there a specialist ISP? I use broadband wanadoo for the UK.

My travels are mainly Africa region.

Thanks

If you don't want to use Wanadoo's webmail service in web cafes, then I think that you have a number of options to connect your laptop to the 'net. I don't know which is best for Africa, having only been there a couple of times on holiday:

1) Use a British mobile phone - very expensive and slow.
2) Hire an African mobile phone - cheaper, but still slow.
3) Use Wi-Fi or a hotel's Ethernet broadband connection.
4) Sign up with AOL (it seems to have access numbers for a lot of countries).
5) Sign up with an African ISP (probably a lot of hassle).
6) Use satellite broadband - I don't know much about this, but it's probably quite expensive.
