Windows Registry Recovery

I have Windows XP Pro running, and ever since I did a system restore I keep getting the following message on start-up - "One of the files containing the system's Registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternative copy. The recovery was successful". It then ivites me to click OK. Which when clicked it all seems to run fine. But it is annoying to have the box appear everytime I turn the computer on. Is there any easy way to stop it appearing, or am I stuck with it for evey more.
Grateful for some advice.

Although the error isn't severe it is annoying, and, worse still difficult to solve and, evidently, not necessarily a simple registry corruption.
A few questions first :
1. What made you do a system restore in the first place?
2. Have you changed anything lately, e.g. HDD or RAM?
3. Is your HDD a Maxtor?
4. Is the PC a Dell?

I resored the system because I messed-up manipulating an important digital photo, and as a last resourt I tried a restore (I know, I know, but I was desperate). Anyhow I haven't changed any hard waer recently, I do have a Maxtor HDD - the DiamondMax Plus 9, and no its not a Dell, but a Mesh 1.1Ghz. Thanks

System Restore will not normally restore your data.
There are some registry recovery tests that could be tried but I think you have a hardware problem, also I'm fearful they may permanently damage your Windows installation if things don't go according to plan.
I would download the diagnostic utility from Maxtor and run a complete test.
