The excellent value Video LAN Media Player Has been hovering in the 0.x range for Many years A few weeks ago they released Version 1 RC1 only noted it as RC3 is out today. The Change/fix list is really Long. Highlight for Me is there is now Blu-Ray support  I note "Support for Mac OS X 10.4.x was dropped due to its technical limitations"

Maemo Port: * New Maemo port with: - an interface based on Hildon framework. - scaler based on the swscale_nokia770 library.

Video output: * Effects (cube, torus, etc.) removed from OpenGL video output * Video is able to stay in original size and to zoom in fullscreen (hotkey 'o') while keeping black borders * Image video output has been rewritten into a video-filter named 'scene'. The old image video output has been removed. * Support for scaling and converting video chromas with FFMPEG imgresample was withdrawn due to bugs. Please use the newer FFMPEG swscale instead.
Miscellanous: * Invmem, a fake codec to display images from external applications

Update on this I tried version 1 and It wouldn't run 
Reverted back to My old Version of 0.9.4 and its running happily Last version in the Stable "0" range is Version 0.9.9 (16 MB download) Background note if you want to try VLC out this Program uses the Quicktime engine as a base so Install or update this Program before installing VLC

They have now released Version 1.0 without any Beta or RC Tags, I assume it's the Final version .Have not Tested it, as I said before if you have any trouble with it Uninstall, and Use version 0.9.9 which is reliable

Now, i have been waiting for the pausing on the player to be instant, as when taking screen shots it used to be annoying not to stop straight away. I am going to download now

I saw on VideoLAN's site they came up with a novel release code word for Version 1 Quote:
The VideoLAN project is pleased to announce the release of the first version of the Goldeneye branch of VLC: 1.0.0.

Update on Version 1.0.0 not working on my computer... They have issued another version 1.0.1 since
This works OK ...Any Changes are Very minor on the Outside(Its the Internals that have had a makeover)
