I won’t comment on the specification of the two computers you linked to as I’m not enamoured with either brand. They may well be perfectly alright but I would suggest you put off buying a new one until Aug/Sep/Oct when Windows 7 will be released. It’s a vast improvement over Vista, which all current machines come loaded with. |

If you do a little gaming I'd avoid Vista and get something with XP. I know everyone will say I'm daft, but never had an issue for games on XP but many problems with Vista. Therefore I would defer to the better knowledge of those on Windows 7. It might be a return to form. For gaming the obvious question is what games? If it's a case of Mah Jong or Solitaire once in a while then fine, but if you intend to go Call of Duty etc........ I bought a cheap Redten (uh?) off Saverstore.com, an 8600GT card, a cheap sound card off Maplins and used my trusty LG monitor so kept budget under £300 and got a machine that can pull off a few tricks. Not top of range but it did what I wanted. So my suggestion would be to look at ebuyer.com and Saverstore.com. Both offer decent 'shells' and you can upgrade them with cards easily and under budget. |
