I am looking for a good cheap PC .... The Eclipse Zenith i82n98GTX is now ranked high by PC Pro ("blistering", Breezed" etc) http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/195579/eclipse-zenith-i82n98gtx.html but every PC and consumer board seems to be full of terrible terrible reviews of Eclipse Computers. I wondered what the view of this board is? Is this company really sooo bad? If so why does PC Pro plug this PC and previous Eclipse PCs? Does anyone have good (or bad) experiences of Eclipse Computers? Thank you in advance for advice |

The review spelt it out in Black and white there was nothing wrong with the Performance ,it was the amount of cheap cost cutting materials Used in the construction. A better option would be to buy a Basic computer(Tower) with no peripherals Pre installed with Vista. Dell Do this but there are Many other Places that do it for less. You use what you have now If you have a Desktop System And If you have to add anything Check out www.maplins.co.uk (where there are decent Items at sensible prices) and you won't have to pay the total price of the Computer you reviewed TIP Go for an AMD Processor that is suitable for an "AM2+"Motherboard (and there are a Big choice ) Reliability /Longevity and Speeds are Very Good

thanks for your help bedstorfromAP, I thought that Eclipse got a good spec by putting in high spec components but then something has to give eg build quality? I guess a good spec computer is no good if it doesn't actually work!? I had thought of Dell, I know you said its poss to get a similar build for cheaper but their PCs do seem really cheap. I wouldn't need a good graphics card as I'm not gaming or using vids much, mainly just internet, Office and also some data analysis of large data sets so may need a high RAM. I will look at pcspecialist, I've heard of them and maybe also cougar who get a lot of good press on the PC Advisor site, so much so it seems suspicious ! |
