Opening Word 2007 Files...

At home I have recently upgraded to Office 2007, which I am very happy with...
except - If I save a file as the default Word doc. I can't open it up on my laptop, which runs Office 2003. It shows up in Explorer as an encrypted Word file with a big "no entry" sign on the icon. I also have OpenOffice 2.3 installed on the laptop, and that won't open the file. OpenOffice doesn't open it on the original computer either.
I know I can save the file as a Word 2003 document, but I don't really want to do this. Any suggestions as to how I can get Word 2003 or Open Office to read a Word 2007 document?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Opening Word 2007 Files...

You need to download and install . . . . >> Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats

Note:
You will need to download any priority Office updates from the link within the page before you install the 'Compatibility Pack'.
