Reverse look up

I am trying to find a site that allows you to find out who a phone number belongs too I would prefer a free as the next cheapest option is to call them back, it may be a company or a private number I know the area code is Birmingham but I don't know anyone in Birmingham.
I am just been nosey as to who it is and would have answered if I had heard the phone ring.

Reverse searching is illegal in the UK. Don't know why but not even BT are allowed to offer their database for finding a name based on a t/p number. You might get lucky with Google if it's a company number and they've got a web presence.
