We are having problems with viewing a lot of our channels (we have the complete viewing package but not HD or Sky+) We keep getting messages on screen saying things like 'There is a tecnical fault with this channel' or 'No satelite signal being recieved' it doesn't happen to all channels but is usually more than 50% of our channels at any given time!!! Is our box dying? Is there a problem with the dish? Or is it a known/current problem with sky? Please help, I would sooo grateful. Thanks Catherine

Hi and Welcome to the boards. Weather can play a factor sometimes with the satellite signal, also anything blocking the dish can cause this issue too, sometimes it can be BSkyB's fault, if you're getting this constantly it's probably worth giving them a call. Before ringing: Consider unplugging the digibox and leave unplugged for 10 minutes then plug back in and turn on. Check all the connections to the back of the box are secure and not loose. As the same for your TV, scart leads can be a pain for coming out, especially if the lead has no slack and the TV or digibox is moved (i.e. when dusting). From your remote with the TV switched on and your Sky channel or input. Press services button then Option 4 then options go into each option and run the tests for 6,7,8. If none of the above resolve the issue call Sky, but tell the agent of what you have done. |

I've been experiencing the same thing. It's been getting steadily worse over the last couple of years. First thing I did was to get a local aerial installer to come round and test the signal strength from the dish. He said there was nothing wrong with the signal but my Sky box was so old that it could do with replacing. I bought this one for £100 and the problems have all been resolved. Incidentally, that site has a huge trouble shooting section that explains in detail what to look for when trying to resolve problems. |
