Earthquake

Bit of a scary one this morning, if it wasn't for a post on another message board I was going to think nothing of it.

Anyone else affected?

Hope staff and members are ok

Re: Earthquake

Earthquake hits much of England so there must have been quite a few who heard it, I know I did. As for being affected it sounds like mild structural damage and an injury reported in the link at Wombwell, South Yorkshire. I suppose it's hard to imagine the devestation when you hear about 'real' earthquakes.

Re: Earthquake

I just thought, 'Oh, they're at it again!', 'they' being the noisy neighbours...

Re: Earthquake

Very rare in Ireland, JJ, according to this report.

Earth tremors are pretty common in England and Wales though according to the table on this page. The 2002 one, centered on Dudley in the West Mids, was the last one I felt.

So yeah, wait a couple of years and you'll probably have the Earth move for you again

Re: Earthquake

Yep the earth moved for me here in Yorkshire

I was in my living room and the walls and floor visibly and audibly shook! Very alarming. I can only liken it to being right next to a train track as a train sped by. Reported it around 1.10 a.m. here

Re: Earthquake

Nope! Nothing moved here, if it did, we slept through it.

Listening to Viner's Radio Prog, someone e-mailed in saying he thought it was neighbours below decorating their flat, (What! At that time of day?), so he jumped up and down on his bedroom floor.

It was only when he listened to the news this morning that he felt such a fool!

Someone in Peterborough reported their parrot fell off his perch! Don't be alarmed, parrot is fine.

Re: Earthquake

I woke to the feeling of the bed shaking and a rattling noise, looked at the clock and it was 12.58 (Northamptonshire)

Same here! I was comletely shaken off my sofa while watching the telly and the rumbling noise was scary! It felt like the epicentre was under my sofa!!
(My two dogs were completely freaked out too!)
No damage though thankfully.
