Linksys WRT54G v.7 Repeater setup?

Hi again,

So I've been told I need to make my Linksys WRT54g wireless router into a repeater to repeat the signal from my netgear sky issued modem which keeps dropping signal and not being effective.

I've trawled the web and seen that DD-WRT isn't supporting the version 7 of this router and that's the one I have...do I need to use DD-WRT firmware or am I mistaken?

If anyone has the patience to direct me to a step-by-step guide on how to make the linksys work for the broadband wireless signal I would REALLY appreciate it (as would my housemates who are also suffering...)

Thank you all so much!

Re: Linksys WRT54G v.7 Repeater setup?

You'll need to configure the wireless router as an access point

So initially you'll have to set up each router independantly otherwise you'll end up with an IP address conflict otherwise and set it up like this:

Both routers should be set as gateways, NOT routers
first router: DHCP server enabled, Local IP: 192.168.1.1 (default)
second router: DHCP server disabled, Local IP: 192.168.1.2

for your connections, you will need to use a straight through cat-5 cable (not crossover) into any of the 1-4 ports on the first router

I would suggest that you update your firmware before you start
