LAN connection problems on standard user accounts

G'day

My System is running Win 2000 SP4
My internet (broadband) works fine under the administrator login - Netgear DG834GT modem using Netgear Wireless USB adaptor.

I have just created a standard user login ( which does NOT give rights to install any programs - standard Win2000 user account option)

When I first power up my pc and login to the admin account - the LAN connection gets enabled - then if I log off the admin account and logon as the standard user - I am able to get the LAN connection working - and the internet works fine.
However if I power up my pc and login first as the standard user, the LAN connection is disabled and I am unable to enable this - unless I login as an administrator once.

Is there a way to enable this under the user account - without compromising the other restrictions relating to this user account?

Thanks for your help

Re: LAN connection problems on standard user accounts

You have the CWS trojan on your PC which needs to be cleaned before anything else can be sorted. Wait for that to happen and then ask the question again. It may, of course, not be neccessary.
