Hi, I am looking for some help please. Yesterday, I tried to download IE8 from the Microsoft website but the download was interrupted by my dauughter playing with the keyboard. When I try to open IE, it tries to open but just closes again so I thought I would do a system restore and start again. I have gone to various restore points and completed the restoration, but the same thing continues to happen. I then thought of completing the download through AOL'S browser which i have. I get as far as the download now button and click it but it does not respond so I cannot complete the download. I also notice that some of the buttons in control panel are not responding either. I was going to go to add/remove and remove IE altogether but remembered that you cant do this. I am using XP with SP3. Andy help would be appreciated. |

Two options i can think of to try. 1. Open I.E. with no add-ons ( click start > all programs > accessories > system tools > Internet Explorer ( no add-ons ). Go to the Microsoft download website for IE 8 and save the file to your pc. Close all programs and run the install file again. 2. Boot into safe mode. If I.E. 8 shows in add/remove uninstall it to revert back to I.E.7. Reboot and install I.E.8 if you so choose. |
