photoshop download

Hi to all.its my first time on here so i,m not to sure about this.. could anyone please help.i used to use adobe photoshop 7. but was deleted by mistake grrrr...i now use picasa not just quite the same so i,m hoping that some one on here can give me an idea about a good free photo download i like to fix my photo,s myself because i,m rubbish with my digital camera,,..thankyou...

The best freebie tool, and the one closest to Photoshop in terms of performance and options available is The Gimp.
Have a wee google and a read about that.

I have downloaded The Gimp and it looks brill. Only problem is I can't use 'help' as it tells me that I havn't downloaded 'help' I downloaded everything I could. What do I do now? HELP!!

You will see from previous threads that Paint.Net gets lots of brownie points and is strongly recommended by other forum members. Picasa is fine for lots of jobs but Paint.Net has a cloning tool !

The GIMP comes with extensive help files. Once you have started the program, press F1. Should you get an error message at that time, you may need to set your help browser to 'Web Browser' in the Preferences. This will tell the GIMP to use your default web browser for viewing the help pages. You may also have to install the help pages from a separate package (gimp-help), depending on how your version of the GIMP was packaged.
