Memory Card Reader - How do I know which one?

Hello,

I have a Canon Powershot S30 Camera abd want to download images/movies to Vista.

The Canon Vista Compatibility site suggests the following:

"It is required to use a Memory Card Reader to download images/movies to Vista PC".

How do I know which reader I need, there seem to be so many?

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks

Tia

Re: Memory Card Reader - How do I know which one?

You may not need a reader...

The Canon S30 should come shipped with an USB lead with a standard USB plug on one end and a smaller plug to connect to the camera (under the port cover on the side of the camera by the LCD screen).

So, basically, with the card in the camera;

  • Plug the cable into the camera
  • Then plug the lead into the USB port on the PC
  • Switch on the camera - it should recognise it's connected to the PC and automatically adopt the right mode
  • The PC will recognise the camera as an external hard drive, and should open it in Explorer (if not, goto My Computer and you should see an extra drive, double click to open).

It's then a simple matter of dragging and dropping the image files/folder(s) off the camera onto your PC.

Let us know how you get on, or if you have any problems pop back.
