I have a 1-year-old Dell Dimension 5150 which came with a 30-day trial version of Corel Photo Album 6 pre-installed. I found that this suited my needs so I bought the program. All was well until recently when I have started to get error messages when opening the program or trying to open images with it. I uninstalled it and re-installed it from the CD ROM but the problem still occurs. The error messages are: "Restore of the database of folder and photo information from the specified backup folder failed. A new (empty) database will be created for you." When I click "OK", the message disappears but, when I try to open an image folder, I get this message: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library Program:...rogram files\Corel\Corel Photo Album 6\Photo Album 6.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." When I click "OK" Photo Album 6 closes. Can anybody help? |

Exactly the same thing happened to my copy of PaintShop Pro 8 ! It worked fine in Administrator settings but the problem you mentioned would happen in the other user modes. I must have installed/uninstalled about a thousand times and searched countless forums to try and find the answer. It's not that the program didn't work...it did, and then you simply clicked the C++ dialogue box to shut it down.It was just sooooooooooo annoying...because I couldn't discover WHY it was happening. I cured it though ![]() I found the answer at Camp Ratty (strange name, I know ) Go to Camp Ratty--Irreverent Tutorials--Marginal Advice and scroll down to TIP 24/ Reset registry the easy way. Incredibly this simple tip which took about three seconds, cured the problem that has been bugging me for months.I know it's not the same programme which is giving you problems but it IS the same problem---and might have the same solution. It might be worth a try. (There's loads of other handy PSP-related tips and tutorials as well) Hope this helps...let me know |
