Re: Your user options screen

Paul

I entered a signature (normal text) but it appeared in the main body of the reply, not below the line so I had to remove it.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you.

Re: Your user options screen

Hello Burrwalnut,

Thats what I did but I think I clicked the "Markup button" on the right before entering the text. No idea what it does but it worked ok for me.

Joe

I've tried your suggestion and it appears to work, thanks.

Re: Your user options screen

A signature is a line that is associated with you. For instance, I use the line you see below the horizontal rule, which happens to be an Ozzy Osbourne Quote.

You can use your website address, a quotation and you can use markup, but it does use some of your character space

Your Bio is a short (250 characters isn't a lot) biographical description, should you so desire.

Thanks 'Putasolution', I'm on track now. I'll have to put my thinking cap on, if I can find it!

One thing I've noticed is that square brackets have to be used not the more usual less than and greater than symbols.

Re: Your user options screen

Yes, it appears that the board is based on what is known as UB code. It was originally designed for those who didn't have a great deal of HTML knowledge.

The beauty and the by product is that if you learn UB code and you will have learnt a bit of HTML. The vasst majority of messageboards around the net are based on similar code

Is it possible to get a ub code editor? Is there such a thing?
Any ideas anyone.
Thanks Joe.

Re: Your user options screen

I've checked it out with our technical guys and the forums are not based on UB code, although it is very similar. They also said that if there are any extra tags you would like to see they can add them quite easily, so post your requests here. I found some extra UB tags here

Re: Your user options screen

Obviously you didn't intend the [beer] suggestion to be taken seriously, but what's wrong with making a few "fun" type images available? That's what the "emoticons" are after all, and with the new site layout, download time isn't a problem any more.

You can do that yourself Barney, [image]url[/image] Just right click on any image you see on the web, right click and select properties, then copy and paste the url into your post.

How do I set 'Favourite Forums'

I see that is listed in my Control Panel, but can't find where to set it. I have certain forums here I always visit, while others are of no interest/cannot assist, so I avoid them. I'd like my regular ones in that box, and hopefully they also appear at the top of my board view?

Re: How do I set 'Favourite Forums'

Simple - when you're in one of your favourite forums scroll to the bottom of the list of posts page and click on the Favourite Board link. This will add the forum to your favourites list.

Re: Your user options screen

Your chosen avatar must be hosted elsewhere on the Internet, it's the URL to that image that you put in the relevant box in your user options.
