I want to see more (or less) posts per page

You can change the number of posts to be displayed per page by editing your profile. You can set this from anything between 1 and 99 posts per page. When you first sign up this gets set to 40 posts per page.
Displaying less posts per page may increase the speed of the site slightly.

Would it be possible to display this limitation on the Options screen? I tried 100, but coulnd't work out why (until I read about a hundred posts before coming across this one).
Alternatively, something quick and easy - change the textbox maxlength from 3 to 2.
