Update monitor
|
|
In the latest issue of Webuser magazine, issue 183, UpdateStar from http://www.updatestar.com is recommended. However, it's incorrect reporting my Spybot S & D needs updating. Also, none of the downloads appear to work. Has anybody else tried this program with similar results?

Personally I prefer the Hippo one:
http://www.filehippo.com/
The Update Checker is to the right under Tools. Never tried the other one - quite happy with the Hippo.

Could your firewall or other security settings be preventing the program from accessing updates? It works fine for me.
Also, a new Spybot detection updates download became available today - could UpdateStar be referring to this?

Without downloading to even check this out I'll stick with The Secunia PSI which I've been using for about 3 months now. This thumbnail is a few weeks old now.

Luckily we've got that one in the feature too!

Ah that's where you get one up on me, I had the said issue delivered yesterday and I ain't got around to reading it yet. ESET released their version a couple of weks ago SysInspector BETA and I like the way the threats increase/decrease as you operate the slider but I still prefer Secunia by far.

I've double checked my security setting but I can't find any reason why UpdateStar doesn't work. Funnily enough, FileHippo doesn't work either. I'll just have to stick with Secunia PSI.
