spam from the states

I hope I'm not getting paranoid over this, but over 90% of the spam sent to me, comes from the states. I know someone in Florida, and about a year ago, he said he'd given my email address to "gain" cinema tickets. Of course I gave him a b*********, about a month or so ago, we ceased mailing, over something else. Here comes the paranoia bit. Is he at it again. ?

No, once done, you've been added to the mailing lists and that's that. You have to remember that the US are still the biggest users of the net and theirs is a culture of wealth creation. Some of them aren't quite as scrupulous as others.

The major problem is is that it is only a small number of people actually creating all the spam
