Checking through my contacts list there are 7 numbers. The following is an example. 04AD7C9C-9F6E-42A1-B56D-2768541E2A When you hover your cursor over the number you get:- Type WINDOWSLIVECONTACT file Date modified:18/04/2008 15:36. Can someone advise me of what these are,and if they need to be there. Regards. |

I don’t have my crystal ball with me today, so perhaps you could tell us your email client and/or which address book you’re using? |

Sorry about that. I am using Windows Mail and the address book that comes with it. Regards |

Alanbrooke Those Contacts are Windows Live Messenger type files. There is a write-up describing how to retrieve them using Windows Data's Contacts API, here http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb463989.aspx Not having used Messenger for years I had to go to Microsoft to find out about them. If you don’t want them, I suggest you delete them but backup your Contacts first: Backup: Windows Mail > File > Export > Windows Contacts > CSV > Export and choose a destination. Delete: Windows Orb (Start) > All Programs > Windows Contacts then right-click > Delete those you don’t want or don’t use. |

I'm glad you sorted it out. Feel free not to answer but were these Contacts yours or 'rogues' planted on your machine? |
