I can download my Outlook Express emails, but over the last few days I have suddenly been unable to send any, being informed 'connection to the web server has failed'. I've tried at various times of the day and night without any joy. Also, I have'nt changed the settings. Any advice as to what is the problem, and how to fix would be much appreciated. Rob |

Possible culprits/solutions are: 1. Your ISP is at fault. 2. If you’re using a dial-up modem (not a router) go to Internet Options > Connections Tab and tick ‘Always dial my default’. 3. OE > Tools > Accounts > Mail Tab > Properties > Advanced Tab > make sure Incoming port is 110 &/or remove tick from Secure SSL connection. 4. OE > Tools > Accounts > Mail Tab > Properties > Servers Tab make sure Incoming and Outgoing are spelled correctly. Perhaps ‘My server requires authentication’ needs ticking. |

Are you using an email address provided by your ISP or a 3rd party email address. I have had a number of problems with 3rd party address mostly with AOL that they block or at least limit outgoing smtp port 25. Solutions is to try either port 26 or 2525, remember you will need to get your host to open up these ports for the outgoing SMTP mail. On another note in a few months I will be moving to SKY as my ISP and wonder if anyone knows is they block port 25 as to date I have had no dealing with them. Cheers |
