problems accessing hotmail

hi guys/gals
I'm having problems accessing my hotmail account in so far as it takes about 3mins or so to login and then another 3mins or so to access the inbox when I eventually do get in.
I've checked for spyware and viruses and there doesn't appear to be anything on my machine and Microsoft's help link on msn says there's nothing wrong there so I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem or is it just me?

I'm am such a idiot at times!
I forgot that I updated AVG to the new beta 8 and to cut a long story short, I altered the settings slightly and whoope doo I got my hotmail back to normal
