Hotmail and AOL Problems

I have recently installed AOL Broadband and use a netgear router on my laptop and pc which uses Windows XP.
I am unable to open MSN or Hotmail does any one know if this is a AOL issue or some kind of conflict. When logging in to MSN I receive an error messag numbered 81000306.
Thanks

Re: Hotmail and AOL Problems

As you're using AOL make sure the MTU (maximum transmission unit) is set to 1400 in the router settings.

Re: Hotmail and AOL Problems

Thanks for the advice , however I am unable to locate the MTU link in the router settings page . Looks like another lengthy call to AOL.

Re: Hotmail and AOL Problems

Thank you for posting back.

I used to have a Netgear router but, of course, I can't remember the settings.

What you need to do now is create a backup of your settings, so that if you have to reset the router you can restore them. This procedure is in the router setup in the left pane.
