Outlook express attachments received

I cannot open Microsoft Word attachments in Outlook Express.When I click on the attachment & then on open, the Windows & fax viewer opens in preview mode.How can I open these attachments with Microsoft Word which I have installed. I have tried highlighting the attachment & saving to my documents but with no success.

Try this:
Open the Control Panel or My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types > Scroll down in the 'Registered file types' till you see DOC (assuming that the Word document has that extension) > Highlight > Change > Scroll to or Browse for Microsoft Word > Tick always use the selected program . . . etc > OK
Try opening the Word document again from within Outlook Express.
