I'm using Windows XP SP2, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 and Spyware Terminator on a Dell laptop with Office 2007. Whenever I open Outlook 2007 I get the following 'Internet Security Warning': 'The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified. A certificate chain was processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider'. There is now a box to click for 'View certificate' then 'Do you want to continue using this server?' followed by Yes and No options. I've been clicking Yes. Send/Receive then starts up and I can receive email from both my email accounts, but Outlook keeps trying to send 4 messages that have been deleted from my Outbox. If I try and send anything, it just sits in my Outbox until I finally give up and delete it, then it adds itself to the phantom/deleted emails, which it attempts to send the next time. It's really frustrating as I have to use my web based Gmail to send anything. PLEASE can someone help - it's driving me mad! |

Hi Popgirl, It sounds as though they are using a secure server, its a simple change to the account settings, open the account settings window for the account and then click the more settings button, next click the outgoing server tab and then tick the my outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication tickbox. See if that helps. Kind Regards Andy |

Hi I've had a look but unfortunately the page with the useful link has expired! I've tried searching generally for help on 'root certificates' and somehow end up in the Microsoft Management Console but I have no idea what I'm doing; the Microsoft help pages seem to be designed for someone much more teckie than me, so I'm no further forward, I'm afraid. popgirl |

Hi Andy My ISP is waitrose.com but I mainly use my googlemail email address. It's the googlemail that seems to be causing the problems, as I keep getting security certificate warning messages when I try and access my messages using the web mail |

I've been using IE7 but got fed up with all the security certificate warning messages so have recently switched to Firefox; I still get the messages but somehow they're not so irritating! |

Hi Popgirl, try adding the GMail website to your trusted sites list in Internet Explorer 7, that may help. |
