Importing Outlook Express data into Outlook 2007

I've copied all the .dbx files onto an external hard drive, but can't work out how to get them from the external hard drive to the new laptop with Vista / Outlook 2007. Also, my contacts don't appear to be there? Will they be in a different non-.dbx location?
Any help much appreciated ...

Re: Importing Outlook Express data into Outlook 2007

Microsoft Outlook doesn't use DBX files, they are PST which holds all the data, mail and address book. The address book in Outlook Express is a WAB file. If you use the File, Export function in OE you should be able to use File, Import in Outlook.

Thanks greysts
They are both on different computers. Should I therefore export from Outlook Express onto the ext hard drive, then import it from there onto the new laptop with Outlook 2007? Also, do I needc to do the address book separately or will it come with the mail export?
Thanks again, Bazza

Re: Importing Outlook Express data into Outlook 2007

Yes, exporting to an intermediate device is fine. No, the emails and address book are two different files. I normally use OEQB from here. The OE Freebie Backup isn't running but if you go to the bottom of the page you'll see a link to download OEQB. Use the Full Installation. Then to the left of the page there is a link to the OEQB help pages.
